Your Philly Spring & Summer Events Guide

Who’s ready for some warm-weather fun? We can’t wait to get back out there and rekindle our love with Philly. Here’s a roundup of our favorite events. Read on for a quick rundown of our bucket list!

Spring in LOVE Marketplace

April 22nd through May 28th

An outdoor pop-up marketplace will return to Love Park beginning on Friday April 22nd. Shop diverse Philly vendors selling a wide range of goods from apparel and accessories to art, pottery, packaged foods and more! Local food trucks will be there too. The marketplace will run every Friday and Saturday for this six week period, and on select Sundays as well.

Flavors on the Avenue Food Festival

Sunday April 24th

Flavors on the Avenue will return to East Passyunk with five blocks of street food, seasonal brews, live music, sidewalk sales and family fun. The festival will run from 11am to 5pm on East Passyunk Avenue from Broad to Dickinson streets. Free to attend and open to all ages.

Spring Open Studios @ Bok

Friday May 6th

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the Bok building? Meet the 200+ tenants that call Bok home - from artists, bakers, and vegan cheese makers to piano tuners, ballet instructors and more! Wonder around and make some interesting new friends on Friday May 6th from 6-9pm.

Roxborough Spring Fest & Car Show

Saturday May 7th

Head over to Roxborough’s Ridge Avenue for some Saturday festivities. This year’s Spring Fest will have it all - live music, classic cars, local brews from New Ridge Brewing Company, food trucks, and over 30 local artists. Bring the kids for musical entertainment, storytime, games and more!

Kensington Kinetic Derby & Arts Festival

Saturday May 14th

Possibly the most unique event on our list, many Philadelphians know East Kensington for its annual derby, centered around a human-powered float parade that ends course in a mud pit! This event is only fitting for a neighborhood embedded with creativity and tons of innovative small businesses.

Rittenhouse Row Festival

Saturday May 21st

One of Philadelphia’s most popular festivals, the annual Rittenhouse Row Festival brings in more than 50,000 people from across the region to Rittenhouse Square for one wonderful Saturday. Walnut Street will be taken over (from Avenue of the Arts to Rittenhouse Square) to showcase the neighborhood’s plethora of awesome food, fashion, arts and entertainment. Dozens of restaurants set up shop along the sidewalks to serve up samples of their fare. There will also be lots of live music, culinary demonstrations, fashion shows, and shopping galore.

Italian Market Festival

Saturday May 21st and Sunday May 22nd

South Philly’s Italian Market is the nation’s oldest continuously-operating outdoor market! Every year the entire neighborhood celebrates with a huge weekend-long block party, blocking off traffic along South 9th Street (from Fitzwater to Wharton) as the area is flooded with food and entertainment. Tons of local businesses will set up their booths so we can sample everything our hearts desire: think specialty cheeses, roast pork, sausage & peppers, pizza, cannolis, street corn, tacos, and the list goes on. There will be games and live music too, but let’s be real - this event is all about the food.

Center City Sips

Every Wednesday, June 1st through August 31st

Philly’s favorite happy hour tradition is back. $6 cocktails, $5 wine, $4 beer and half-priced appetizers. Need we say more? Dozens of participating restaurants will offer these discounts every Wednesday evening, all summer - so if you work in Center City, Wednesdays are the day to go out after work. We can’t think of a better way to sprinkle some fun into the middle of the week!

Philly Pride Parade & Festival

June 2nd through June 5th

Each year the Philadelphia LGBT Pride Parade and Festival brings more than 25,000 participants to the city for a march down Broad Street. Leading up to this year’s parade, a weekend-long party will kick off the fun at 12th and Locust Streets on Friday evening. The parade will take place on Sunday, leaving from the heart of the Gayborhood (Locust St. between 12th and 13th), winding through Midtown Village and Old City, and ending at Penn’s Landing. Then the main festival event will take place on Sunday at Penn’s Landing and include dancing, vendors, food trucks, and fun for all ages!

Linvilla Orchards Strawberry Festival

Saturday June 4th

Escape the city and get some fresh air at Linvilla Orchards' Strawberry Festival, which takes place every year at the beginning of June - peak strawberry season. Frolic through acres of strawberries and pick your own fresh, delicious yield. Start picking as early as 8am! At 11am, the orchard’s bakery presents Delaware County’s largest Strawberry Shortcake, which is something you have to see in person.

Roots Picnic

Saturday June 4th & Sunday June 5th

Calling all hip hop fans! Philly’s annual hip hop/R&B festival put on by The Roots never disappoints. This year Mary J. Blige will be performing with them, among other headliners like Summer Walker, Wizkid, Jazmine Sullivan, and Kamasi Washington. (Check out Kamasi Washington, he’s great.) Many other artists will be there too, most notably (in our opinion) Masego and Freddie Gibbs. Enjoy a diverse range of food options from Philly-favorite food trucks and even specially-curated menu items from The Roots themselves. And of course bar locations will also be set up throughout the site.

Haverford Township Heritage Festival

Sunday June 5th

If you’re a history buff, this one’s for you. The Heritage Festival explores history with weaving and blacksmithing demonstrations, craft making, colonial era activities (like churning butter, candle dipping, etc.), local artists & crafts people, antique cars and more! This year marks the 14th annual festival. If the history aspect isn’t your thing, you can still tag along for the ride and enjoy some local craft beer and food vendors.

Odunde

June 5th through June 12th

Every year since 1975, more than a 10-block radius in Graduate Hospital gets taken over by thousands of people for the enormous ONDUNDE street festival, and it’s awesome. Hundreds of vendors - not only from the United States, but from a handful of African and Caribbean countries - will gather to bring a genuine taste of Africa to South Street. The food is a huge attraction here, but vendors will also be selling everything from crafts, clothing, jewelry and more.

PHS Flower Show

June 11th through June 19th

One of the most famous events on our list, you probably already know the deal when it comes to the Flower Show. As the nation’s largest & longest-running horticultural event, this is certainly something you’ve gotta see for yourself at least once! Come wander around and delight your senses with beautiful botanical displays at FDR Park.

Narberth Spring Festival

Sunday June 12th

Head to downtown Narberth for an afternoon of fun this June at the Music & Arts Festival. The festival takes place on Haverford Avenue and features live music all day, street food, drinks, and ‘Artist Alley’ on Forrest Avenue.

Juneteenth Parade & Festival

Sunday June 19th

Each year, Juneteenth celebrations across the country mark the anniversary of African Americans’ emancipation from enslavement and honor the ratification of the 13th Amendment, while also examining the impact that our history of slavery continues to have on America today.

This Juneteenth, the West Philly parade will commence at 52nd and Parkside and include non-profits, dance groups, youth groups, schools, float bands, politicians and more. The festival at Malcom X Park will have activities, local merchants, food vendors, and art exhibits. Additionally, Children’s Village will be held in the parking lot of the Global Leadership Academy’s building and will include a carnival, games, face painting, photo booths and more.

Wawa Welcome America

June 19th through July 4th

This season-long celebration of independence starts on Juneteenth and wraps up with the main event on July 4th. The Fourth festivities start with the Celebration of Freedom outside Independence Hall, followed by a free concert, and ending with the city’s largest firework display. The week leading up to the Fourth will also offer free admission to The African American Museum of Philadelphia, free outdoor movie screenings and more.

Chinese Lantern Festival

June 21st through August 7th

This one is a must-see! The Philly Chinese Lantern Festival returns for the first time in 3 years. The illuminated fest in Philadelphia’s Historic District hosts dozens of massive, intricate and handcrafted lanterns - we’re talking dragons, pandas, whales and more. And they’re all constructed by lantern artisans from China. Also enjoy live cultural performances, shopping, dining, the Dragon Beer Garden and more.

Manayunk Arts Festival

June 25th & 26th

The Manayunk Arts Festival attracts upwards of 200,000 people each year to Manayunk’s historic Main Street for a two-day festival of arts, crafts, music, food and more. Hundreds of local and national artists head here to sell handmade items of all sorts. Browse a vast variety of goods while enjoying music along with food and drink specials.

Main Line Bike Race

Saturday August 20th

The Main Line Bike Race has returned with a vibrant new course that showcases the heart of Ardmore, winding through both the Lancaster Avenue business district as well as the Suburban Square shopping district. The Ardmore Music Hall will provide entertainment at two outdoor stages located in Schauffele Plaza and St. James Place in Suburban Square. There will be kid races too. All proceeds from the race will benefit Narberth Ambulance. Both pro and casual riders are welcome!
