One of Philadelphia’s most expensive and exclusive neighborhoods, it boasts many high rise luxury apartment buildings and some of the best fine dining in the city. Among the many office buildings and retail shops is the beautiful Rittenhouse Square park filled with trees, grass and benches to sit and enjoy an afternoon. It is one of the five original squares planned by our city’s founder, William Penn, in the late 17th century. With shopping, dining and all the other luxury amenities you can think of, Rittenhouse is a great place to call home!
Graduate Hospital provides the convenience of downtown living with the charm and allure of a small neighborhood feel. It is great for a pedestrian lifestyle with plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and grocery stores. It is a great family-friendly neighborhood with parks and playgrounds close by.
Fishtown has drastically changed over the past decade and has gained a lot of national attention since being named “America’s Hottest New Neighborhood” by Forbes Magazine in 2018. It has so much to offer between some of the best restaurants in the city (including the best pizza in America according to Bon Appetit in 2015) to art galleries, music venues, bars, cafes, shops, bakeries and breweries. Literally on top of it all is “the El,” one of America’s oldest elevated subways that can whisk you right into Center City in just 10 minutes.
“NoLibs” is home to young professionals, artists, students, and families in the many newly developed apartments/condos scattered among the historic and charming rowhomes. It offers a stop on “the El” which can bring you into Center City in less than 10 minutes, making it a breeze to get to work. The neighborhood is home to many shops, restaurants, the Piazza/Pod Park, and Liberty Lands Park & Playground.
A quick drive or bus ride from Center City you will find a great shopping and dining district in East Passyunk. There are over 150 independently owned businesses located here offering hand-made goods, fashion and dining. They host many events throughout the year including street festivals, restaurant week and 2nd Saturdays. The area is always vibrant and buzzing with people enjoying a drink, a meal or shopping.
Named for the many breweries that were located in the area in the late 19th and early 20th century, Brewerytown has undergone an immense transformation over the past 10 years. For a long time the breweries had all dried up, but in recent years they have started to come back with new places like Crime & Punishment and Hops Brewerytown. Besides breweries, there are great cafes, restaurants and shops all popping up along Girard Ave. There is great public transportation, plus walkability to great spots such as The Art Museum, Philadelphia Zoo and Fairmount Park.
